Everyone that goes to work expects to feel safe in and around the workplace. One area we have seen with initial consultations for various customers, is the lack of safety and safety information. Every employee and employer wants their workplace to be safe, and SJLC have seen our valued clients improve the morale and job satisfaction among workers with attention to safety aspects.

Safety Legislation

Workplace safety was formerly known Occupation, Health & Safety, though is now known as Workplace, Health & Safety, following the introduction of the 2011 Act.

Workplace, Health & Safety within Australia has a few main principles:

  • Protecting workers and other persons from harm by requiring duty holders to eliminate or minimise risk 

  • Providing for fair and effective representation, consultation and cooperation 

  • Encouraging unions and employer organisations to take a constructive role in promoting improvements in WHS practices 

  • Promoting the provision of advice, information, education and training for WHS

It is key for potential clients to understand that there may be many new Amendments & Bills that are enacted, which represent new challenges and laws that are mandatory to enact within a workplace.
